MANSFIELD -- The Mansfield Art Center will present the first solo exhibition and first artist, Braxton C. Daniels III, on Saturday, Feb. 6 in a new “small space gallery” on the foundation floor, named the REACH Gallery.
Daniels' solo exhibition is an intriguing array of photography entitled “Atypical.”
“The photographs are not typical, but irregular in relation to my work,” Daniels said. “These works are expressions of thoughts, feelings and emotions, still me, but the other side - the side I keep hidden from the public.”
In this intriguing exhibition, Daniels is drawn to the dark and misunderstood. Through his photography, he advises us to not be afraid to visit that side within that makes us who we are.
Daniels has had an impact on the cultural growth of Downtown Mansfield through his photography, often partnering with surrounding companies and organizations while promoting events to enhance and engage others.
He has received many accolades for his work as a landscape, commercial, portraiture, and wedding photographer, including OSU Mansfield’s prestigious Art Area 2018 Book Award.
Daniels uses modern-day technology to create distinct images and continues to grow and evolve as technology changes. He is a board member of NECIC and an active member of the community who strives to bring life, art and culture to Mansfield and beyond.
Braxton C. Daniels III “Atypical” will be on display from Feb. 6 through March 20 in the Reach Gallery at the Mansfield Art Center located at 700 Marion Avenue, Mansfield, Ohio.
“The REACH Gallery is designed to support local artists and give the community an opportunity to see first-hand the wealth of talent that we have in Mansfield through small solo exhibitions," according to Susan Duncan Gentille, Marketing/Development Director for the Mansfield Art Center. "In our mission to be an all-inclusive community art center we believe we need to start in Mansfield and continue to reach for opportunities to give local artists recognition and exposure.”
In the large space Upper and Foundation Gallery aims to focus this year on exhibitions that are Ohio Artists. The arts have taken a hit with the pandemic and this is an attempt to bring local and Ohio art and artists back to life.
Five talented artists that call Mansfield their home have been chosen to have a seven-week exhibition of their own. Following Braxton C. Daniels III will be Jane Johnson (April 3 to May 15), E.D. Jasbeck (May 29 to July 10), James Fleeson (July 24 to Sept. 4) and Gibby Kain (Sept. 18 to Nov. 6).
All artists have a unique style of their own and incredible talent. The 2021 sponsors for the REACH Gallery exhibitions are Richland Source and Westfield Bank.
