MANSFIELD -- Javar La’trail Parker, a Mansfield native and theatre/TV/film actor, is coming to the Richland Academy of the Arts, August 7 and 8 to offer private coaching sessions and a roundtable discussion for high-school-aged students and above.

This coaching event is for those looking to pursue theatre, musical theatre, or vocal performance in their future.

During Parker’s private coaching sessions, individuals will participate in a 30-minute workshop to explore a song or monologue of their choice, develop audition techniques, and find the right audition piece. These sessions benefit individuals wanting to take their acting career to the next level. A $25 fee per session will be required and financial assistance is available upon request. Participants are asked to bring their sheet music or monologue, having both memorized.

The roundtable discussion is a free, 60-minute session with Parker where parents, students, and professionals all have an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about a professional career in the arts. This roundtable will educate participants on college auditions, college life, securing agents, and other industry-related topics. The roundtable will take place Aug. 8 at 5:30 p.m.

The Richland Academy focuses on the safety of all students and visitors, therefore social distancing and masks will be in effect at these events. Only one parent will be allowed to accompany their student into the building. On-site registration and payment will be required.
