Children's programs have long been an attraction to the Mansfield Richland County Public Library.

MANSFIELD - The Mansfield/Richland County Public Library has announced it will be expanding service hours beginning Monday, Oct. 5. As the Library continues in Phase 3 of the reopening plan following the spring COVID-19 pandemic shutdown, the five largest branch locations will extend hours to remain open until 8 p.m. two nights per week.

“Extending hours will allow patrons with busy schedules more time to stop in during the week and also allow for some of our in-person programs to resume,” said Chris May, MRCPL Director.

The extension of hours will include the Bellville, Lexington, Ontario, and Madison branches that will remain open until 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Additionally, the Main Library will remain open until 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesdays. To further accommodate patrons, the Curbside Pick-Up Service will be available until 8 p.m. at these locations as well.

Although May is encouraged by this opportunity to provide additional services to the community, he cautions that MRCPL is still operating during unprecedented times and hours are continuously subject to change based on the recommendations of Richland Public Health.

It is highly recommended that all customers routinely check their local branch location webpage at mrcpl.org/locations or call the service desk for the most up-to-date hours.

MANSFIELD RICHLAND COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY

Since Mansfield Richland County Public Library's opening in 1889, the first 700 books, and the first set of the Congressional Record, the library has been a source for free access to knowledge, information, and resources in Mansfield. That will never change.

"We are a bridge connecting people to the knowledge and resources they might not otherwise have access to. In the global and digital age, we also recognize the importance of being rooted in our community offering innovative resources, programming, and events specifically for our customers," the library stated.

"Through our interactive website, www.mrcpl.org, we are now able to provide access to resources for our library card holders 24/7 in addition to our nine traditional locations. MRCPL is a center for people of all ages to come together to have fun, learn, grow, craft, seek knowledge and understanding, connect, and engage."
