Richland Newhope kicked off "Developmental Disability Awareness Month" on Wednesday with its annual bowling event at Lex Lanes in Lexington. The event includes Newhope clients, as well as students from public and private junior high schools and local elected officials. Troy Smith, manager of community education for Newhope, said, "We're really looking at inclusion here and just an event for all. We put about five bowlers on a team and it's just a great time for conversation and engagement with each other." The event included pizza, chips, cookies and trophies for the highest scores.
