MANSFIELD -- Richland Academy of the Arts has announced the return of one of its theatre instructors, Maria Getz Beery.
Beery taught at Richland Academy before she ventured to New York City and furthered her theatre career. She spent 10 years in the Big Apple where she performed, directed, taught drama and English, as well as studied acting at the Atlantic Acting School and the Jayd McCarty Studio.
She previously served as a drama teacher and director at Convent of the Sacred Heart School and York Preparatory School. Beery has a Master of Arts in Theatre with a concentration in Youth Theatre as well as a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Bowling Green State University.
She will be teaching several new theatre classes this summer at Richland Academy starting July 12, including:
Junior Theatre Camp: Ages 8 to 12
Teen Acting Institute: Ages 13 to 18
Academy Children’s Theatre (ACTS): Ages 13 to 18
Camp Shakespeare: Ages 13 to 18.
“We are thrilled to have Maria back at the Academy to offer high-level instruction and give children and teens a summer experience they will remember for the rest of their lives,” says Marianne Cooper, Executive Director at Richland Academy of the Arts. “I think every young actor needs to take advantage of these awesome opportunities this summer.”
