Happy Independence day!

BUCYRUS -- Stars, stripes and fireworks are always staples of the celebration of Independence Day.

Crawford County has several places for families to "ohh" and "ahh" as burst of light fill the early-July night sky.

The Bucyrus Kiwanis Firework show, taking place July 3, will begin at dusk.

This year, the Rain Date will be July 7 at the Crawford County Fairgrounds 610 Whetstone St. Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. For more information, click here. The event is scheduled to be over by 10:30 p.m.

The Crestline Independence Fireworks show will take place July 3 at dusk at the Crestline Soccer Field (formerly Old Hutson Stadium) E Livingston (Near Hamilton Park) Crestline, Ohio 44827. For more information, click here.

The Crawford Park District has announced the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center will be open the July 4 Holiday from noon to 4 p.m. The remainder of the holiday weekend the Nature Center will be open on Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

All of the parks of the Crawford Park District are open year round from sunrise to sunset. For more information, contact the Crawford Park District at 419-683-9000.


In surrounding counties, there are more opportunities for celebration.

In Marion County, fireworks are slated on July 4 at the Marion County Fair. The show will begin at 10 p.m. at the fairground's grandstand.

There are three firework events in Seneca County.

Green Springs Park, 120 S. Catherine St in Green Springs, Ohio 44836, will have a show July 3 at dusk.

Hedges-Boyer Park, 491 Coe St in Tiffin, Ohio 44883, will host an event on July 4 at 10 p.m.

Fostoria Reservoir, in Fostoria, Ohio 44830 will light the sky July 6 at dusk.


In Richland County, there are four opportunities to enjoy America's independence.

Ontario Fourth of July Festival - 10:05 p.m. Saturday, June 29.

Fireworks kickoff at 10:05 p.m. behind the Ontario Middle School to close out the annual Ontario Fourth of July Festival.  The show is sponsored by the city of Ontario and 4th of July Festival committee. Tune radios to WVNO MIX 106.1 for accompanying music.  

Mansfield Motor Speedway Freedom Fest - Dusk Sunday, June 30.

Mansfield Motor Speedway, located at 400 Crall Road East, will offer a free fireworks show and festival Sunday, June 30. Gates open at 6 p.m., and fireworks begin at dusk. There will be a face painter, balloon artist and cornhole. Plus, iHeartRadio will be on site playing live on air music. Food and beverages will be available on site. 

Charles Mill Lake Park Red, White, and Blue Fest - 9:45 p.m. Saturday, July 6.

Charles Mill Lake Park will celebrate Independence Day with its annual Red White and Blue Fest from July 4 through July 7.The weekend-long event held at 1277A State Route 430 includes live country rock music, a movie at the lake, games, nature activities, a beach party and more. The fireworks show will begin Saturday, July 6. Gate admission & fees may apply.

Shelby Bicycle Days Festival - 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13.

The conclusion of Shelby Bicycle Days is recognized Saturday, July 13 with a fireworks display at W.W. Skiles Field. Show starts at 9:30 p.m., but come early to catch the Donley Ford pre-fireworks show featuring Three Ton Toad from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
