Mark Dawidziak book chat

MANSFIELD -- Main Street Books has announced a Sept. 6 book talk with Mark Dawidziak, author of The Shawshank Redemption Revealed: How One Story Keeps Hope Alive.

Dawidziak will speak and sign books, starting at 6 p.m.

The book, published on the 25th anniversary of The Shawshank Redemption movie, one of the most cherished American films of the late 20th century and one of the finest movies made from a Stephen King story.

The movie was filmed at the former Ohio State Reformatory, as well as other local sites.

The book features behind the scenes photography and new interviews with the cast and crew.

Dawidziak has been the television critic at the Cleveland Plain Dealer since July 1999.

During his sixteen years at the Akron Beacon Journal, he held such posts as TV columnist, movie critic, and critic-at-large.

Also an author and playwright, his many books include two histories of landmark TV series: The Columbo Phile: A Casebook (1989) and The Night Stalker Companion (1997).

Everything I Need to Know I Learned in The Twilight Zone, his lighthearted tribute to Rod Serling's series, was published in 2017.

He frequently lectures and gives talks on Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, television and vampires. He lives in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, with his wife, Sara Showman, and their daughter, Becky.
