MANSFIELD -- The Renaissance Performing Arts Association’s Black Box venue, Theatre 166, will premiere the new musical "At Last: An Evening with Etta James" on Jan. 17, 18, 24 and 25 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 19 and 26 at 2:30 p.m.
"At Last: An Evening with Etta James" is part of the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center Black Box Series.
Written and directed by Michael Thomas and starring Condrea Webber, this original musical tells the tumultuous life story of the legendary singer through the songs that she made great. In addition, Alice Bond (piano), Ed Jonet (Saxophone), and Rollie Harper (Drums) of The Etta James Trio will provide live accompaniment.
Thomas stated, “I can think of no other artist who's more perfectly matched to this material. Condrea has so much heart and joy in her voice - but also, like Etta James, has experienced loss and pain, yet has still come out on top and triumphed. To hear these songs performed by such an amazing talent is an experience you'll not soon forget.”
Tickets are $25.00 and are on sale now at the Renaissance Box Office, via phone at (419) 522-2726, and online at RenTickets.org.
