MANSFIELD -- The Mansfield Chamber Music Players will present the 25th annual Donald Bernhardt Memorial Chamber Music concert on Sunday, Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. in Riedl Hall at the Ohio State University, Mansfield campus.
Various combinations of strings and woodwinds will be performing music by Johann Georg Lickl, Anatol Liadov, Joseph Eybler and William Grant Still. Masks are required.
Carol Bernhardt organized the first memorial Chamber Music concert in 1997 in memory of her husband Donald Bernhardt, an avid chamber music player. Don, who died in 1996 from malignant melanoma, was Concertmaster of the Mansfield and Ashland Symphony Orchestras and taught strings in the Mansfield City Schools for many years.
He would often organize marathon chamber music playing weekends at their house and loved going to Montana for a week of chamber music playing each summer.
Included on this year's varied program is Trio in Eb for Clarinet, Horn and Bassoon by Johann Georg Lickl, Eight Russian Folksongs, Op. 58 by Anatol Liadov, Quintet in D Major by Joseph Eybler and Ballet Music by William Grant Still.
Performing this year will be Violin, Michael Sieberg and Steve Domka, Viola, Jim Froelich, Cello, Robert Rashid, Bass, David Lenigan, Flute, Carla Colon, Oboe, Carol Bernhardt, Clarinet, Pam Ellis, French horn, Keely Krumweide, Bassoon, Jane Price and Piano, Gary Gennedy.
The concert is provided by the Donald Bernhardt Memorial Chamber Music Fund at the Chase Bank in cooperation with The Ohio State University, Mansfield campus.
