TRENTON, N.J. — Alisha Miller, of Mansfield, Ohio, associate director West/Alaska, Office of Military and Veteran Enrollment and Outreach at Thomas Edison State University (TESU), was elected president of the National Association of Institutions for Military Education Services (NAIMES).
NAIMES is an organization dedicated to excellence and advocacy for military-affiliated students. Its vision it to advocate for and influence decisions that impact policy, legislation and practices that safeguard the academic success of military-affiliated students.
Miller has served as a TESU member representative to NAIMES since 2011 and has served three years on the Executive Board of Directors as secretary, two years as vice president and recently began serving two years as president from January 2021 through December 2022. She has also served on several committees and has been the chair of the Promotional Materials Committee for three years.
“I am honored to be elected to serve this influential organization that is dedicated to advocate for the education of military-affiliated students,” Miller said. “Serving the military community is a privilege, and I look forward to working with the NAIMES membership to ensure the delivery of quality postsecondary education programs to the men and women who do and have served our country.”
Founded in 1975, NAIMES currently includes 22 member academic institutions, representing a balance of 2-year, 4-year, public, private, for-profit, traditional and online institutions. NAIMES is an organization comprised of institutional members dedicated to the delivery of quality postsecondary education programs to the military community.
Through collaborative partnerships with the Department of Defense voluntary education leadership, sister organizations and agencies, NAIMES continuously seeks to promote quality degree programs, student support services and principles of good practice. At its core, NAIMES is committed to the academic success of students within the military community.
NAIMES also offers five cash scholarships annually through its Student Spotlight Award to celebrate student achievements across the armed forces and foster scholarly communication between students, faculty and the military communities they serve. Participation in the Student Spotlight Award provides students with opportunities to gain valuable experience in both oral and written presentations of their work.
