MARION – A Marion man was killed early Sunday morning in a motorcycle crash in Marion County, according to the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Aaron M. Schilling, 32, of Marion, was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Coroner’s Investigator April Short.

The fatal crash occurred on Dec. 12 at approximately 1:38 a.m. on U.S. Route 23 near Mile Post 11 in Marion Township. According to the Patrol, Schilling was driving a 2013 Victory Cross Country northbound on U.S. Route 23 in the right lane and lost control. The motorcycle overturned onto its side and traveled into the median.

Schilling was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He sustained fatal injuries as a result.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion Township Fire and EMS, Marion County Coroner’s Office, the Ohio Department of Transportation and Kirby’s Towing.

This crash remains under investigation.
