GALION -- A Galion resident was "very fortunate" to avoid injury on Tuesday morning after four shots were fired into a Cherry Street home, according to authorities.
The Galion Police Department is asking for the public's help while investigating a shooting that occurred in the 300 block of Cherry Street at approximately 12:28 a.m. Neighbors called the police department and reported hearing four gunshots.
Police said a black Dodge Charger was reported fleeeing the area possibly heading northbound and exiting along Harding Way West. Anyone that saw a vehicle matching that description at that time is asked to call Galion Police Detective Robert Burkey at 419-468-9111 or the confidential tip line at 419-468-3480.
At the scene, officers found four holes on the side of a house on Cherry Street, and one bullet was recovered which was lodged in an interior door of the same house.
Police say the bullets were fired into the bedroom of a residence where the occupant was sleeping. No one was injured in the incident.
Evidence will be sent to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation for processing.
