GALION -- The Galion City School District will host the 2019 Connections Weekend celebration Thursday, Oct. 3 through Saturday, Oct. 5.
Festivities begin Thursday with the Galion Elementary and Intermediate School students to participate in the 2nd annual Tiger Dash at Unckrich Stadium.
At 6:30 p.m., a bonfire and pep rally will be held behind the baseball field in Heise Park in the area of the practice field and will feature athletic teams, cheerleaders, bands, and an introduction of the homecoming court. The Galion Fire Department will light the bonfire to conclude the rally.
On Friday, Oct. 4, Galion Middle School will host a Career Day for the 8th Grade Students.
Several Hall of Fame Inductees will participate, as well as other professionals from the community. Students will attend six different sessions during the morning. Friday evening at 6 p.m., homecoming activities will begin at Unckrich Stadium. The homecoming court will be presented, and the 2019 Queen announced prior to the game against Clear Fork.
The Galion Alumni Band and Alumni Cheerleaders will help cheer the Tigers on to victory. Saturday, Oct. 5 will begin with the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast at the Galion Intermediate School from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The cost of breakfast is $7 with kids ages 8 and under free, with a paid adult ticket.
The Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony will be held at the Galion Middle School the evening of Saturday, Oct. 5. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and feature a musical performance by the Galion High School Showtunes Show Choir. The Class of 2019 includes Harold “Tubby” Garverick (55), Harry Garverick (56), James Garverick (60), Jerry James (44), Ken Jarvis (65), Joe Kleinknecht (60), Kellie Rowland (77), Vicki Trapp (79), and Kyle Zeuch (03).
The Connections Weekend and Homecoming festivities will conclude with the annual Galion Homecoming Dance at 7 p.m. on Oct. 5 in the Galion High School gymnasium.
