BUCYRUS – Bucyrus High School senior Trinity James, a member of the Class of 2019, will enroll in the Nursing program at Marion Technical College ahead of the game thanks to encouragement from a family member.
James earned 21 college credits through the College Credit Plus program at Bucyrus High School and will save her family $10,500 in tuition costs when she starts her college studies in the fall.
“My aunt encouraged me to enroll in the College Credit Plus program,” James said. “She works at Marion Technical College and knew how helpful these classes would be for me in the future.”
James was a varsity cheerleader and member of the Bowling team during her time at Bucyrus High School. She enjoyed serving as a role model for upcoming cheerleaders and teaching them the new material.
“Trinity knew the impact that the College Credit Plus program could have on her life, took the advice of her family and enrolled in CCP classes,” said Mark Burke of the Secondary School. “Trinity’s decision saved her time and money as she enrolls in college, and she is well on her way to a successful future.”
James feels prepared as if she already has a foot in door because of her experiences in the CCP program at Bucyrus High School.
“I would encourage other Bucyrus students and families to take full advantage of these classes because they are so helpful,” she said. “They also allow you to save money on classes that can cost thousands of dollars at any university.”
The Bucyrus High School Class of 2019 earned a total of 302 college credit hours, saving their families $151,000 in college tuition costs.
The 150th Bucyrus High School Commencement will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26 and can be viewed live on the district’s YouTube channel at youtube.bucyrusschools.org.
