Crawford County Small Business Relief Fund

GALION – The Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce and the Galion-Crestline Area Chamber of Commerce are collaborating after receiving CARES Act funds from the Crawford County Commissioners.

This allocation of funds is in response to the urgent need for assistance to sustain Crawford County's small businesses as they fight for their survival amidst the COVID-19 crisis. The Crawford County Small Business Relief Grant (SBRG) has been created to quickly administer much needed funding during these challenging times.

“Working with County Commissioners and our Board of Directors, we established the Crawford County Small Business Relief Grant," said Miranda Jones, Executive Director of the Galion-Crestline Chamber. “The goal of the grant funds is to expedite financial support for temporary relief for our area small businesses (25 or fewer employees) who are facing unexpected expenses, which are extra challenging to cover during this period of uncertainty due to the coronavirus.”

The Crawford County SBRG funds will be available to help meet these needs. Eligible small business may receive up to $10,000 in the form of a non-repayable grant to be used for the reimbursement of certain expenses, as defined in the guidelines released from the chambers. Any money that has not been allocated by December 31, 2020 must be returned to the State of Ohio.

In a letter of support, Crawford County Commissioners endorsed the grant funds.

“The Commissioners fully understand what this pandemic has done to the businesses and would like to assist this effort for relief. The funding is to help with rent, leases, utility bills, loss of income and other costs related to the pandemic since March 2020,” commissioners noted.

“Early on, many small businesses did not have access to CARES Act Funds, therefore we are laser focused on those businesses, which include sole proprietors,” explained Jessie Furner, Executive Director of the Bucyrus Chamber. “Both chambers have listened with open ears, open minds and heavy hearts to our members. Now is the time to rally together to provide relief for our County's small businesses.”
