Bing Jing He

Graduating Bucyrus High School senior Bing Jing He saved her family $10,000 in college tuition costs by earning 20 college credit hours through the College Credit Plus program at Bucyrus Secondary School.

BUCYRUS – Bing Jing He, a member of the Bucyrus High School Class of 2019, will pursue a degree in finance at Baruch College after receiving her diploma May 26. In addition, her experience in the College Credit Plus (CCP) program at BHS has helped prepare her for the challenges of college.

Bing Jing earned 20 college credits, saving her family $10,000 in tuition costs. She originally enrolled in the CCP program to save money for her family but quickly found that the program would provide her with far more valuable experiences.

“The CCP classes really helped me learn to manage my time and work under stress,” she said. “Taking CCP classes allowed me to experience what it feels like to be in college.”

Bing Jing was not only a model student in the classroom, but she was very involved in many activities during her time at BHS. She was the Student Communication Officer for Science Club, Secretary for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), and a member of National Honor Society, Girls Boosters, Art Club, Quiz Team and Teen Institute.

“Bing Jing has taken the most challenging classes and college courses here at BSS despite her busy schedule outside the classroom,” Bucyrus Secondary School Principal Dr. Mark Burke said. “She has taken full advantage of all the opportunities here at BSS and is well on her way to a successful college career.”

When asked what advice she would give to Bucyrus students and their families who are enrolling in the CCP program in the future, Bing Jing would tell them to be prepared.

“Always ask if you do not understand something and do your work,” she said. “Be prepared and manage your time wisely.”

The Bucyrus High School Class of 2019 earned a total of 302 college credit hours, saving their families $151,000 in college tuition costs.

The 150th Bucyrus High School Commencement will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 26 and can be viewed live on the district’s YouTube channel at youtube.bucyrusschools.org.
