MARSEILLES TOWNSHIP -- Troopers from the Bucyrus Post are investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on County Highway 77, east of Township Road 108, in Wyandot County's Marseilles Township.

The crash was discovered Sunday around 9:18 p.m. It involved a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Michael C. Hoy, 49, of Marseilles, Ohio.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle was west on County Highway 77 when it collided with a deer. Hoy lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected.

Hoy was transported from the scene by Wyandot County EMS and was taken to Wyandot Memorial Hospital where he died from his injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, troopers said. No other vehicles or people were involved in the crash.

The State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Department, Wyandot County EMS and the Marseilles Township Fire Department. The crash remains under investigation.
