MANSFIELD – Mid-Ohio Youth Mentoring was nominated by Rinehart Insurance Agency in Mansfield to receive a $10,000 grant from the Westfield Insurance Foundation’s Legacy of Caring program. The charitable donation will help improve the lives of young people in the tri-county area including Richland, Ashland and Crawford counties.
A check presentation is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. at Rinehart Insurance Agency on Park Avenue West in Mansfield.
Last year, kids in the Mid-Ohio Youth Mentoring program showed real differences in their personal and academic lives with reports showing 86 percent could show more trust toward their parent and volunteer. The children also saw an increase in their self-confidence and could express their feelings better.
The research shows that mentoring works. Gary Walters of Rinehart Insurance has been involved with Mid-Ohio Youth Mentoring for the past 15 years and has seen the benefits first-hand.
“I have been a mentor for the last three years to a local child and I have witnessed how my involvement with him has improved his relationship with his family and friends and has improved his performance at school,” said Walters, President of Rinehart Insurance Agency. “We are proud of our collaboration with Westfield that allows our agency to honor its commitment of enhancing and helping educate the communities where we live and work.”
At Westfield, it’s more than writing insurance policies, it’s about going above and beyond to help people and families grow and prosper. Each year, Westfield independent insurance agents, like Rinehart Insurance Agency, are invited to nominate a local nonprofit for the Legacy of Caring program.
The program invests in communities and helps impact disaster recovery, family stability or safety.
“We are so grateful for the generous support of the Westfield Insurance Foundation and Rinehart Insurance Agency,” said Jim Nicholson, Executive Director at Mid-Ohio Youth Mentoring. “The Legacy of Caring grant enables Mid-Ohio Youth Mentoring to move forward in our goal of developing youth in our community through programs and services that will result in more college graduates, community leaders and entrepreneurs.”
This year, the Westfield Insurance Foundation donated more than $500,000 to neighborhoods in 15 states. Rinehart Insurance Agency is one of 76 agencies that nominated a nonprofit, including Mid-Ohio Youth Mentoring, for the Westfield Legacy of Caring grant program.
Awarding grants through the program is an extension of the fundamental role that insurance plays every day in stabilizing families, businesses and communities in times of uncertainty. Westfield stated it has worked with its independent agents in distributing over $2 million in the last five years.
