Metronome Music Inc. wants to make buying a musical instrument a positive experience. As a small business in its 57th year, the staff of experts explain the features and benefits of each item so that customers become comfortable with their options before making a purchase.

“We offer an extensive product selection of musical instruments at Metronome Music Inc.” said Manager Larry Miller. “You can come in and try out the instruments before you purchase to make sure it's the right one for you.”

The store offers many different payment options including layaway and no credit financing to make it easy to buy.

Gift cards are a great option this holiday season.

“Our gift cards never expire and can be used toward any merchandise in the store, even lessons!” said Miller. “If you're buying for someone who is already taking lessons with us, you can purchase a gift card that can be used to help pay their tuition.”

Metronome Music prides itself on being a small retail store that employs local citizens, pays taxes that stay in the county, and contributes to the livability of our community. The employees are musicians and many play in local bands.

“According to national surveys, playing a musical instrument will not make you smart, but it will make you smarter,” said Miller. “Some of my fondest memories are playing in the band and orchestra at school.”

Metronome Music donates to many local organizations including the Renaissance Theatre and local school band programs. Proceeds from a recent guitar restringing event at the store benefited the Richland Humane Society. The store also has a scholarship fund for select children to take music lessons at Metronome Music Inc.

Miller is proud to have grown from a 1,200 sq. ft. location to the present 8,000 sq. ft. through, and he appreciates the kindness and support of the local community.

“The fact that we have survived 57 years is a tribute to my deceased wife, who was extremely important in our success,” said Miller. “We could not have accomplished our success without our former and present staff. So our goal is to keep providing musical instruments, lessons and repairs until everyone who wants to play an instrument has one.”
