SHELBY -- Dr. Marissa Miller, DDS and her team at Discovery Dental in Shelby have announced the addition of Associate Dentist Dr. Carol Patel to their team of dental professionals, as well as extended hours for the practice.
Dr. Patel was born and raised in Long Island, New York. After completing high school, she relocated to Boston where she received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Northeastern University in 2012.
She continued her education at Boston University School of Dental Medicine, graduating with her DMD in 2016. Prior to moving to Ohio, Dr. Patel practiced dentistry in Augusta, Georgia where her primary focus was children and young adults. She is recently married which led her to Ohio.
Miller, who began her practice in Shelby over nine years ago, said she is grateful for the loyalty of her patients and their referrals of friends and family members; referrals which have come in such great numbers that she felt it necessary to add an Associate Dentist to her staff.
“Because this practice has grown so much, I realized that I really need the help of a talented, personable dentist to take the best possible care of our patients,” Miller said. “I spent two years searching for a dentist who shares my love of people, and who wants to learn, grow, and get better at our craft.”
Miller said the addition of Dr. Patel to the Discovery Dental staff will allow the practice to offer expanded hours of service for both general dentistry and dental hygiene appointments. Effective Oct. 7, hours of operation will be as follows: Mondays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesdays 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Fridays 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (by appointment).
“Many patients have commented on how busy our office is, and they are right!,” Miller said. “I'm so looking forward to working hand-in-hand with Dr. Patel and, with her help, getting to spend more time face-to-face with our patients.
“Dr. Patel is just a lovely person to begin with and has a seriousness about her profession that I really respect. She has a natural curiosity about people and loves to learn just as much as I do.”
When not treating patients, Dr. Patel loves spending time with friends and family, cooking, arts and crafts (including sewing), and traveling with her husband. She enjoys cooking Mexican food and is working on mastering Indian Cuisine.
