SHELBY — On Saturday, Sept. 25, the Shelby community will rally together and help The Shelby Foundation achieve its mission of connecting generosity with community need at the Foundation’s annual fundraising event: An Evening with The Shelby Foundation.

The Foundation Board of Directors was again forced to make a difficult decision about the annual fundraiser. They determined offering a true hybrid experience would be the most ideal and gave the direction to host both, an in-person and virtual event.

“When the Foundation Board makes decisions, it is always based on what is best for the Shelby community,” Executive Director Carrie Kemerer said. “Their decision this year really is the best of both worlds by allowing people to participate how and where they feel most comfortable.”

Following the guidance of the Richland County Health Department, the in-person function will take place at Shelby Crossing’s outdoor pavilion and attendance will be limited. Those not in attendance can still participate through the mobile platform and bid on the ever-popular silent auction and raffles.

Just like other nonprofit organizations, the Foundation relies heavily on the community’s generosity. Every dollar raised will be invested back into the Shelby community and surrounding areas through the Foundation’s grant making abilities and will have a substantial and lasting impact on this community.

“This fundraiser supports the community we love,” Kemerer said. “Every dollar raised makes a difference.”
