The Mansfield Area YMCA was recently recognized for their commitment to exceptional child care when one of their locations - Fran’s Childcare - was awarded the 2019 Provider of the Year award from the YWCA.
Megan Wolford, the Director of Fran’s Childcare, was ecstatic to receive even a nomination for the prestigious honor.
“It was very exciting to win the award and I feel that this is a huge accomplishment! I am so proud and thankful for all of the staff here at Fran’s Child Care; it wouldn’t be possible without their hard work and dedication to the children we serve,” Wolford said.
In addition to the award from the YWCA, Fran’s Childcare has also earned a 3-STAR rating from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
What exactly is the significance of being recognized as the YWCA Provider of the Year? Susan Martin, a Parent Specialist from the YWCA, explained that Fran’s Childcare was nominated for the award by several staff members at the YWCA Child Care Resource and Referral department for their dedication to exceptional child care over the last year.
“This program has gone above and beyond to strengthen the quality of care that they provide to the children and families that they serve and we are honored to be able to recognize their accomplishments,” Martin said.
Wolford echoed these remarks about her team at Fran’s Childcare.
“We believe the values and skills learned early-on are vital building blocks for quality of life and future success,” Wolford said. “That’s why our child care, preschool, and after-school programs are staffed with people who understand the cognitive, physical and social development of kids, the need children have to feel connected and supported in trying new things and the caring and reinforcement parents and families need to help each other.”
While Fran’s Childcare was recognized this year as the Provider of the Year, all four child care locations of the Mansfield Area Y are committed to providing the best child care in the area. Velma Bond, the Director of Family Services at the Mansfield Area Y, said that their child care not only focuses on caring for your children, but to encourage healthy growth and development.
Bond explained how the YMCA makes certain that they are providing the best care possible.
“I work closely with teachers and parents to ensure we are nurturing the development of your child by providing a safe place to learn foundational skills, develop healthy, trusting relationships and building self-reliance through the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility,” Bond said.
Wolford further detailed that infants will develop trust and security while being cared for at the Y. Toddlers will experience early literacy and engage with the world in a unique way. School-aged children will improve social skills, receive help with homework and learn other important skills.
When asked why parents should trust the Mansfield Area Y with their child care needs, Bond had an easy answer.
“The Y is an affordable, safe and nurturing alternative when you need child care or an early learning option for your child. At the Mansfield Area Y, we have four convenient locations. We know that when you know your child is well-cared for, it's easier for you to work, study or just take the time you need to focus on your own healthier living,” Bond said.
All four YMCA child care locations offer services for children 6 weeks to 12 years old, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. In addition to the services previously mentioned, child care includes three daily nutritional meals and snacks, biannual child development assessments, free vision and hearing screenings and free swim lessons.
Trusting your child’s well-being in the hands of someone else can be a nerve-racking decision. Obviously, the safety of your child should be the number one concern, but, what if you could give your children an early-learning experience to encourage growth for the rest of their lives?
The Mansfield Area YMCA aims to ease the minds of all parents who bring their children to any of their four daycare locations. While being Richland County’s largest child care provider, The Mansfield Area Y still emphasizes developmentally appropriate programming and an environment that promotes learning.
