MANSFIELD -- Hudson & Essex is rethinking its approach to lunch with new grab-and-go deli options and dining room hours.
The Hudson & Essex dining room is now open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. An expanded menu offers lunch entrees including sandwiches, salads and specials. Guests can also order tapas, flatbreads and small plates from the evening menu.
The lunch menu will be seasonal so Chef de Cuisine Sierra Carver can use fresh, local ingredients. The winter selection includes Bang-Bang shrimp, an Italian Hero sandwich and french dip.
“It’s really chef-crafted from start to finish,” said general manager Ben Hoggard.
Come spring, guests will also be able to eat lunch on the outdoor patio.
“We kind of listened to what the public was asking for and readjusted our business model,” Hoggard said.
The deli has also expanded its hours and will now be open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The grab-and-go section continues to serve pastries, sandwiches and salads, but Hoggard said instead of rotating options, menu items will stay consistent so guests can swing by and grab their favorites. Soon, customers will be able to order and pay online.
“My target audience here is anybody that works downtown and needs to be in and out in a hurry," Hoggard said.
The bakery, gift shop and bottled wine sales have all been moved upstairs for an easier customer experience.
Both Hudson & Essex and the deli, along with Cyprus Hill Winery, are located at 51 E 4th Street.
