Hibachi Ribbon Cutting

I Kadek Eri Budiasa and Rona Simarmata are overjoyed as they cut the ribbon, signifying the opening of their new Ashland business, Edamame Hibachi Wings and Sushi.

ASHLAND — Ashland will have another place to get wings — and sushi — on Thursday.

Edamame Hibachi Wings and Sushi will open its doors at 1159 E. Main St. on Dec. 23 and will possibly have hours on Christmas Day.

Owners I Kadek Eri Budiasa and Rona Simarmata found the space, the former Belly Busters BBQ, in November after searching for a year. The husband-and-wife team also own two additional locations, in Troy and London, Ohio. They plan to open a fourth in Lancaster in 2022.

The couple shared laughs and smiles Tuesday during the restaurant’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, where friends and the strip mall’s neighbors gathered to show support.

“Thank you for your support and being so nice and welcoming to us in the city of Ashland. We are glad to be here and very excited to open up the business and support the community,” Budiasa said.

Budiasa moved to the states in 2009 from Indonesia. His wife joined him around three years ago. Owning a business together has always been something they have aspired to do.

The restaurant’s menu has variety in both flavor and price — from sushi rolls ($8.99 to $14.99) to shrimp tempura ($5.99) to seaweed salad ($4.99) to buffalo wings ($6.99 to $15.99) to popcorn chicken ($6).

Budiasa has set up the restaurant for takeout and delivery.

The restaurant is not a traditional hibachi setup, where chefs prepare the meal right in front of the patron. Instead, the dining room will seat around 50 people, with space for outdoor dining on a patio during warmer months.

The restaurant’s hours will be from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
