MANSFIELD -- Haring Realty, in cooperation with the United Way of Richland County’s Dash for the Goal, is once again presenting their live-action, life-size board game event, “Richlandopoly.”
The event had its inaugural year in 2018, providing an exciting and interactive way for employees of Richland County businesses to come together for a cause that will directly impact the community. The 2019 event raised double the donation amount from the first year, presenting upwards of $11,600 to the United Way at the close of the event.
Money is raised when local businesses sponsor a property on the “board” or when they gather a team of individuals to physically play the game. Teams create their own oversize game pieces to move around the 20’x20’ board, roll 2’ dice, exchange giant money and may even end up being escorted by an actual police officer to a life-size “jail.”
Eight teams from area businesses will have the opportunity to play the 2020 version of the game. We are thrilled to welcome several teams for a second year. Richland Bank is one such team and participant Assistant Vice President Ryan Smith said, “Richlandopoly is a great opportunity to live out a favorite childhood board game but also support our local United Way campaign.”
The 2018 game winners from the Ohio State Reformatory passed the “Winner” title to the team from locally-owned Mechanics Bank, who accepted the title of “Richlandopoly 2019 Winner” and walked away with the trophy and bragging rights.
This year, Haring Realty, together with more than 35 local businesses, is hoping to build off of the excitement of the first two years. The Haring Realty team is actively seeking local businesses to participate via sponsorship and is devising opportunities to keep this event interactive with the community.
The event will once again be held at center court of the Richland Mall on Friday, March 6.
Game play will begin at 10 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m. with the team with the most money being awarded the “Richlandopoly 2020 Winner” trophy.
