MANSFIELD -- Haring Realty has announced the addition of Michael Scharf to its growing team.
Born and raised in north central Ohio, Scharf spent a fair amount of time on and around the farm helping where he could. At 10 years old, he started with a paper route and has not stopped working since.
At 18, Scharf joined the United States Air Force. After training in Texas, he was stationed in Mildenhall, England and in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A jet-engine prop mechanic, he transferred from active duty to the Ohio Air National Guard (Mansfield, OH) in 2000. Between three deployments during the Iraq campaign, Scharf graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Anthropology. Eventually becoming a loadmaster.
“I really enjoyed the travel and it was a great experience being part of a flight crew,” Scharf said.
Since his time at the Ohio Air National Guard, he has been in sales, construction, and substitute teaching.
Scharf enjoys nature.
“I feel happy and free when I’m swimming, walking, running, hiking, kayaking and photographing it," he said. "All things that Richland county has to offer.”
He is also a bit of a gear head.
“I have changed two engines and multiple parts on cars," Scharf said. "It’s great to save money and get your hands dirty sometimes, and the sense of accomplishment is always rewarding.”
When asked why he chose Haring Realty, Scharf replied, “I interviewed multiple brokerages. I’m very thorough and I like to make sure I know what I’m getting into. Out of the gate I had one in mind, not only because of their reputation but also because of their core values that include respect, thankfulness, community and positivity.
"These values are also at my core which made the decision very easy.”
