ASHLAND – Amber Schafer was selling Herbalife Nutrition products from her home in Norwalk when she decided to take the leap and open a storefront.

Along with her husband, Adam, she decided to move from Norwalk to Ashland to start what she’s calling Arrow Nutrition.

“I’m looking forward to helping contribute to the health and wellness of Ashland and the community,” Schafer said.

Located at 623 Claremont Avenue next to Spectrum Photo and Digital Services, Arrow Nutrition had a soft opening about a month ago and celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday. The event was sponsored by Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce.

Herbalife is a multi-level marketing company, like Mary Kay or Pampered Chef. As a distributor for the brand, Schafer said she felt having a physical store would give her space to better explain and demonstrate the products and ultimately help her grow the business.

Arrow Nutrition customers can stop in the store to buy made-to-order energy teas with aloe as well as nutrition shakes in flavors like Birthday Cake and Apple Crisp. They can also sit down with Schafer to set goals such as weight loss or improved digestive health and then come up with a plan to use Herbalife products at home.

Mayor Matt Miller welcomed the Schafers and their business to Ashland.

“What is so great about this is they have come to Ashland just to start a new business… That’s what we’re hearing over and over,” Miller said. “Companies of all sizes, and individuals and families of all sizes, are choosing to come and be here in Ashland because a good thing is starting to take place in this community.”

Miller said its people like the Schafers who bring their entrepreneurial spirit to the community who “make Ashland sparkle.”
