Then & Now: The Wishmaker House 1909

Stofer House in Bellville 1909

EDITOR'S NOTE: This story was originally published in 2015 on Richland Source.

Say you went to have dinner at the Wishmaker House and somehow you stepped through a time portal and wound up in 1909 - where would you be?

You would be eating dinner as the guest of Mrs. E. Stofer of Bellville, Ohio, perhaps sitting on her front porch.

She was the widow of the late Dr. Eli Stofer, a prominent physician and former County Coroner, who kept his office down the street.
