EDITOR'S NOTE: This story was originally published on Richland Source in 2014.

A great many historical dates are lost with the passing of generations and the slow diminishing of memory. But we happen to know exactly when Bellville’s Main Street was paved because someone documented the process and turned it into a postcard in 1907.

There are actually several different versions of this card in existence, all of which were postmarked, indicating something of the excitement and civic pride that came from this downtown improvement.
