SHELBY — Six residents were injured during a house at 146 E. Main St. when it went up in flames on Thursday morning.

According to Shelby fire Chief Mike Thompson, all six victims were rescued  and were being treated for various injuries, mainly smoke inhalation and a few with burns.

“We got them transported as quickly as we could. I really don’t know their status at this point,” Thompson said.

According to witnesses, the house fire began shortly after 9 a.m.

Thompson said his station got the call for a “working structure fire,” and arrived to find a fully-engulfed house.

“We had a lot of fire. This was rough,” Thompson said.

Mutual aid was provided by Madison, Franklin, Plymouth and Springfield township fire departments.

Firefighters were still working to control the burn as of 11:30 a.m.

“The main thing is for everybody to pray for the family, and to keep our guys safe,” Thompson said.

This is a developing story.
