ONTARIO — The board of directors for the Humane Society of Richland County has announced that Linda Chambers has joined the staff as Managing Director.
As Managing Director, Chambers will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative operations including income, expenses and budgeting. Her primary focus will be on fundraising for the organization.
She will also be creating a strategic plan for the next three years to help HSRC achieve its vision of fewer homeless and abused animals through more education to the community on animal care and responsibilities of pet parenting.
“We are very excited to have Linda join the staff of HSRC,” board chairperson Kristie Massa said. “Her passion for this organization and all animals is evident to anyone who spends five minutes with Linda. Her background in communications and working at other non-profits will move the organization forward with more education, events and strategic planning.”
“We are extremely grateful to the Richland County Foundation and their board of directors for allowing this position to happen.”
Funding for the position was made possible by a grant from the Barbara A. Mau Field of Interest Fund. The fund helps local non-profits reach sustainability.
Missy Houghton continues to be a key part of the staff as Director of Animal Care and Operations and lead Humane Agent. The additional position will allow her more time to focus on humane cases and education in the community.
Chambers graduated from The Ohio State University with bachelor’s degree in English. She also has her Masters of Arts in Organizational Communication from the Scripps College of Communication at Ohio University.
Linda and her husband Jon and their dogs, Benjamin and Gordie, and cats, Frankie, Eddie, Gwen and Poof, reside in Bellville.
