Virginia "Jenny" C. Fichter

Virginia “Jenny” C. Fichter, 76, of Mansfield, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015 in Winchester Terrace Nursing Home.

Born Dec. 9, 1938 in Shelby to Russell and Betty (Cole) Ramey, she was a 1956 Shiloh High School graduate. Jenny worked as a collator operator at Uforma/Shelby Business Forms for 16 years before moving to Tennessee and working customer service for Kmart and retiring from both.

A member of Twig Bender Mothers Club, she enjoyed collecting Barbie dolls, watching Disney movies, gardening flowers, crocheting and making beautiful Christmas present bows. Most of all she looked forward to spending time with her family, and going to her grandchildren’s events; whether it be sports, Boy Scouts or youth group.

Jenny is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Jan Fichter; four children, Penny Fichter of Mansfield, Wendy Snyder of Mansfield, Russ (Judi Murphy) Fichter of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Shelly (Doug) Southard of Lucas; four grandchildren, Ernie Dyer of Mansfield, Dane (fiancé Anne Marie Leanza) Fichter of Woodland Park, Colo., Carli (Nick) Jernigan of Shelby, Jaret Southard of Lucas; one great granddaughter Haley Dyer of Shelby, one sister Linda McElahaney of Wasilla, Ark., brother-in-law Jerry (Linda) Fichter of Shelby, as well as numerous nieces nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law Gail and Agnes Fichter.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015 at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. Pastor David Aune of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church will officiate with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
