Robert Eugene "Bob" Miller

It’s hard to explain how Bob Miller was always able to lift your spirits, but the simple tempo to his voice or quick pleasantry on the phone was sure to put you in a better mood. Bob was a social guy who enjoyed time out with friends playing darts and pool.

Bob passed away Friday morning January 23, 2105 in OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, Columbus, following a short illness. He was 64.

Born March 8, 1950 in Marion to Paul and Evelyn (Beringer) Miller, Bob served with the US Army Air Corps during the Vietnam War receiving a Bronze Star Medal, and was honorably discharged as Sergeant.

He returned to Mt. Gilead and accepted a position as a machinist with HPM, serving 25 years until the company closed. More recently he had been working with Sika in Marion in production packaging.

Bob was a member of the Moose Indian Lake OH Lodge 1533, AMVETS Post OH 87 and VFW Post 8054 Mount Gilead, and enjoyed fishing and time spent at his place on Indian Lake.

He is survived by his son Shane Miller of Columbus, a granddaughter Halle Miller of Grove City and a nephew Richard Crane of Fairfield, Illinois, along with extended family and countless friends.

His family will receive friends Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Craven & Snyder Funeral Home, 67 North Main Street, Mount Gilead, where Celebrant Jerry Wilson will lead a service celebrating Bob’s life immediately following at 1 p.m. Military honors will follow on the grounds of the funeral home.
