James Ronald Napier, Sr.

James Ronald Napier, Sr., 80, of Ontario, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Born July 31, 1938 in Delbarton, West Virginia, he was the son of William Kaye and Thelma Jean (Horn) Napier.Β 

Jim was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from General Motors following 30 plus years of service. He was a member of New Beginnings Freewill Baptist Church. Jim enjoyed listening to baseball games and in his younger years, was a Little League coach in Shelby. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending his great grandchildren’s sporting events.

He is survived by a daughter, Pam (Ray) Roark of Shelby; a son, Jim (Maryann) Napier of North Scottsdale, Arizona; six grandchildren, Christy (Chris) McNary of Crestline, Erica Medley of Columbus, Kelly (Seth) Rector of Hillsboro, North Carolina, Michelle Roark of Shelby, Hope (Dave) Villao of Wadsworth and Amber (Jeff) Nastasi of Seymour, Tennessee; 13 great grandchildren, Carson Ingram, Tyler, Alex, Gavin and Grace Shatzer, Luke and Jackson Medley, Lola Rector, Zoe McNary, Chloe, Blake and Olivia Nastasi and Landon Villao; a brother, George Napier of Plymouth; a sister, Ann Napier of Wayne, West Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and all his friends from McDonald’s.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lola (Hensley) Napier; four brothers, Lloyd, Harry, Bobby and Johnny Napier; and a sister, Billie Tridico.

Friends may call from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 South Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. conducted by Pastor Brian Phillips.
