Irene J. Johnson, 68, of Galion, died Thursday, July 20, 2017 at OSU Medical Center, Columbus after a long illness.
Irene was born in Kensington, PA on August 14, 1948 to the late Arthur and Anna (Diesel) Scott. She married Glenn R. Johnson, Sr. on August 14, 1971 and he survives her.
She was a homemaker and a very kind-hearted person. Always helping others, she took care of her sisters when they were sick. Irene enjoyed playing bingo and loved animals.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her sons; Carl E. and Oleta Johnson, Houston, TX, Glenn R. Johnson, Jr., Galion, Steven S. Johnson, Ontario; her grandchildren; Steven Johnson, Jr., Alexis Johnson, Olivia Johnson, Sierra Johnson, Zona Johnson, Eva Johnson, Tabitha Stiemens, Ashley, and Brittany; her sisters, Blanche and Harold Blaskey, Galion, Della and Jim Fryer, North Robinson, Wanda and Billy Haney, Galion, Donna Goughenour, Galion, her niece Anna Chiney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael J. Johnson; and siblings, Anna Marie Chiney, Frank Scott, June Baxter, Faye Stiver, and Shirley Sedmack.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
