Don Haynes, 69, of Mansfield, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2018 at his residence. Born May 18, 1949 in Gadsden, Alabama, he was the son of James and Annie (Myrl) Haynes.

He played football in high school and had to turn down a full ride to Michigan to work the family business. He owned and operated Don Haynes Rubbish and enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, watching sports and woodworking. He played basketball and softball for various teams such as The Subway, Lumberman’s and D&D Drywall for 25 years and was known as “Big Mama.” He was saved in November of 1993 and always thought of others before himself. He dearly loved his family especially his grandchildren and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Stallard) Haynes; a son, Jimmy (Brittany) Haynes; a daughter, Julie Fischer; three grandchildren, Holly, Autumn and McKenna; a sister, Shirley Davis; a special niece, Kerrie Haas; a special sister-in-law, Virginia Haynes; his “oldest son”, Brian (Kriss) Smith; special friends, Ken and Deb Krebs, Andy and Vicki Boggs, Burt and Bev Claypool, Don and Brenda Surber and Roger and Candi Davis; and numerous other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Haynes and a brother-in-law, Jim Davis.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m.on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018 at the funeral home conducted by Pastors Mark Bailey and Dave Bates. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
