Charles Adkins Sr.

Charles E. Adkins Sr., 79, of Mansfield, died Friday, September 25, 2015 at his residence. Born December 6. 1935 in Prichard, West Virginia, he was the son of Jonah and Bertha (Isacc) Adkins.

He retired from Tappan where he worked as a press operator and was a member of the 25 Year Club. He attended Mansfield Faith Assembly and was a great outdoorsman who enjoyed coon hunting and his dogs. He loved spending time with his wife going to garage sales.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Fredia Adkins; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles E. and Donna Adkins of Virginia and Robert K. Adkins and his companion Linda Bartram of Loudonville; six grandchildren, Brandy, Jonah, Tricia, Christina, Bobby and Les; seven great grandchildren, Gavin, Ashley, Ciara, Sophie, Claire, Cailey and Bryson; two brothers, Beecher Adkins of Mansfield and Daniel (Betty) Adkins of Delphos, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Flora Adkins of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Bill Adkins and an infant sister who died at birth.

The family would like to thank Beth, Steve and the staff of Harbor Lights Hospice for their excellent care of Mr. Adkins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Mansfield Faith Assembly conducted by Pastor Don Wilson. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Lights Hospice.

A dinner will follow the services at Mansfield Faith Assembly, 2727 Lexington Avenue, Mansfield.
