LOUDONVILLE – The Mohican Area Community Fund (MACF) will kick off its 2019 “Have a Mohican Heart!” campaign on Saturday, July 14 with an expanded four-hour community celebration designed to promote a greater appreciation of the 35+ nonprofit agencies and other charitable programs that serve the Mohican community.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., MACF will host its 5th annual Health & Agency Fair at the Loudonville Public Library with a consumer-oriented event featuring information and exhibits by area charities, other nonprofit programs and health-related vendors who service the Mohican area.

The fair provides an opportunity for local residents to learn more about those agencies that their annual contributions support, and those that directly benefit our community as a whole.

A special “Passport to a Better Mohican Future” will be given to all attendees who will be encouraged to have them stamped at each exhibitor/vendor as part of a drawing for several prize baskets.

During the fair, a public announcement will be made of this year’s fundraising goal and list of agencies approved for funding as part of the 2019 campaign. Last year’s campaign raised more than $91,500 which is presently funding special programs, projects and daily operations of 35 local charities and other nonprofit agencies in Ashland County.

A vendors market featuring farm fresh produce, homemade bakery and canned goods by Forbes Farmstead Market will be exhibited on the southeast quadrant of Central Park, in addition to fun children’s activities including games and contests, coordinated by Olive Tree Afterschool Care, and a demonstration of tai chi for children by Jim and Linda O’Brien.

The fair is underwritten by Samaritan Health Foundation. Colonial Manor Health Center will again offer a hot dog lunch with all the accoutrements served to attendees. Freewill donations to MACF’s 2019 campaign will be encouraged. Guitarist Jimmy D will provide musical entertainment.

In 2019, the Mohican Area Community Fund will provide essential funding support for 34 local nonprofit organizations and other groups that provide program services to improve academic excellence in our schools, health and human services, provide support for youth sports and local recreation activities, and promote an appreciation for our community’s historic past.
